Mobile grinding and dosing system (processing container)

How a complete raw material processing system was integrated into a 40-foot container

The mobile grinding and dosing system arose from the need to process biomass such as wood chips wherever it is produced. Many operators do not require a large stationary plant, but a compact solution that can be quickly deployed, relocated and integrated into existing operating structures. The task was to accommodate shredding, material transport and dosing technology in a single 40-foot HighCube container without compromising on performance or process quality.

The system is designed to take wood chips up to a particle size of 50 mm and grind them to a finer, processable grain size. The integrated dosing hopper has a volume of around 1.5 m³ and takes over the controlled material feed. From there, the bulk material is fed into the grinding technology via the feed zone. The hammer mill produces a throughput of around 1,000 kg/h when using a 5 mm sieve. Depending on the application, screens from 3 to 12 mm are available. The maximum product moisture is around 15 %, making the system well suited for typical biomass applications.

After grinding, the material is transported onwards pneumatically. For this purpose, the system has an injector and a pipe conveyor system with a nominal diameter range of up to DN125. The aspiration unit ensures a stable air flow during the grinding process and at the same time enables clean material transport. The transfer to the pre-hopper is pressure-relieved and without major loss of fines. The pre-hopper with ascending screw then takes over the dosing of the processed material for further processing or the subsequent process step.

All assemblies are arranged in a structured manner along the long side of the container to ensure maintenance and accessibility. The container openings on the side allow free access to the motors, drives, aspiration, injector, hammer mill and dosing screw. The entire electrical installation and the control cabinet are protected in the container and form an independent unit. The total connected load is around 70 kW.

Thanks to its compact integration and clear process structure, the system is particularly suitable for operators who require flexible processing capacity or want to set up their production infrastructure in modular form. The container can be moved quickly, has defined dimensions of around 12.2 m × 2.44 m × 2.90 m and weighs around 14 tons. This means that it is transportable and can be used immediately on site without extensive structural measures.

This system shows that a complete grinding and dosing technology can be implemented in a technically clean way in a limited space. It offers a compact, robust and mobile solution for the processing of biomass and other bulk raw materials, and it extends the range of applications wherever flexible or temporary production conditions are required.
