My path to technology

As a child, I had no computer, no console, no video games. But I had two dexterous hands, a lot of curiosity – and mechanical toys. I didn’t just play with Lego technology and Fischer technology as a child – I understood how things worked.

When I was twelve years old, I came across a book explaining the difference between two-stroke, four-stroke and Wankel engines at a barter store in the pedestrian zone. Fascinated by the content, I got an old moped from the junkyard, took it apart, analyzed it – and together with my brother got it running again.

That was my starting point. Since then, I have not only been addicted to technology, but also connected to it. I want to understand, plan, implement – and do it better.

1995 – Training & career entry
Technical training with a focus on mechanical engineering, design and production. First projects in the field of plant layout and CAD.

2000-2011 – International projects & experience abroad
I work in various countries in Europe and beyond – from Eastern Europe to South East Asia. In the process, I gain intensive experience in technical project implementation under real conditions.
Regions: Eastern Europe, Scandinavia, Baltic States, Russia, Kazakhstan, Southeast Asia

2012-2020 – Freelancer worldwide
During this time, I have been working internationally as a freelance project planner, project manager and CAD designer – technically and interculturally at a high level.

Stations among others:
Africa: Nigeria
South America: Nicaragua
Arab region: Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Kuwait
CIS & Eastern Europe: Russia, Kazakhstan
Scandinavia & Baltic States

I have learned that every project is different – not only technically, but also culturally. Openness, respect and adaptability are often more important than any software license.

2017 – First own workshop
A design project spontaneously asks me to build two container prototypes. I rent a hall – and make it happen. The workshop has remained an integral part of my work ever since.

2020 – Foundation of Scherer Engineering GmbH
Based on many years of experience and established customer relationships, my own company is born – with a workshop, scan-to-CAD workflow, special machine construction and project planning.

Today – technology with attitude
I plan, construct and accompany projects with substance – structured, honest, efficient. With over 20 years of experience and clear standards: Technology that works.

Why I stay small – and make a big difference
I do professionally what for many would be a hobby. I develop, design, plan and build – with a real passion for technology. To ensure that this passion is not lost on me, I consciously keep my company Small, flexible and independent.

Getting bigger would mean more bureaucracy and less time for technology. I want to create, not manage.

I work with specialized tools such as HiCAD, HELiOS and my own ERP system – this saves me time and frees me up for real projects. My workshop serves as a prototyping center, transshipment point and thinking space – the technical heart of my company.

I believe in it:
You don’t have to be big to make a big difference – you just have to work in a structured way and love what you do
